Fubear. was formed in 2012 in the city of Jyväskylä when Santeri Karppinen and Martti Rasa randomly met one night after the bars’ closing time. Sharing musical interest in grunge bands such as Soundgarden and Alice in Chains, Karppinen and Rasa decided to form a band and started looking for a drummer. After several drummer tryouts, they found their funk-possessed brother in stoner rock, Veli-Matti Österberg in the autumn of 2013. After that, the band proceeded to play their first gig and record their debut EP, ”First Time You’re Alive.” At this point, the band had already started evolving their own sound by matching strong vocals, fuzzed riffs and groovy drumming with an alternative feel. Soon they would be opening for bigger bands like Portland’s Red Fang. After playing gigs mostly in their hometown, the band was ready to take the next step and record their second EP, ”Hopeless” in august 2014. This time around, the recipe is the same, but with stoner elements brought to the table.
