HARDHOLZ - the heavy metal stalwarts from the former GDR celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2014.
Four friends joined forces to play heavy guitar music, and there was one thing that united them all: Metal!
The era of the band started on Easter 1984 with their first public gig.
Besides cover versions, HARDHOLZ also played their own songs, which were well received and led to numerous live gigs. A second lead guitarist was added to the line-up in 1986, and first songs were played on the radio, some of them even entered the charts. A tour in Poland and gigs on metal festivals in the former GDR followed.
The band released a self-produced CD called „Jäger und Gejagte“ in 1995. The album was introduced to the audience during a tour with the well-known band BIEST. It was practically impossible for a metal band like HARDHOLZ to sign a record deal back then, and so they went on indefinite hiatus in 1997.
Every band member focused on other projects until they met again in 2013. They decided to return in 2014 with old and new band members alike:
Drummer Franky, guitarist Ede and bassist Der Hölzer were joined by the new vocalist Kelle, who completed the line-up.
The band signed with Massacre Records in March 2015 and is going to release its new album „Herzinfarkt“, mastered by Markus Stock, in mid-February 2016
