Divine Element is a metal band from Athens, Greece. Having formed at 2003, being comprised of members bearing influences from a wide spectrum of the extreme metal sound (ranging from melodic death, to the greek and norwegian black metal scenes, to prog and folk metal) the band quickly begun composing original material and performing at shows around the local scene, with highlight its performance at Metal Healing festival in 2007.
With the exception of a rehearsal demo, line-up changes initially hindered the band from producing a full-length album, which finally came into fruition in 2010, after a lengthy period of experimentation that was necessary to allow for a personal style to emerge. Although "Divine Element" gathered positive reviews from the metal press, and despite a second album having being already composed, the band came to a hiatus, with some of the members having relocated to another country.
In 2014, a decision was made by the two main members (even though being based in Athens and Budapest) to ressurect the band and bring Divine Element's vision of epic extreme metal to a whole new level.
"Thaurachs of Borsu" (2017) is the first chapter in many future ones to come, under a new and ambitious conceptual undertaking, the combination of metal with fantasy literature and world-making.
