Extinction is a thrash/death metal band formed in June 1995 in the province of Lecce (Italy). The following year, the band released the demo "Progress Regress", which attracted more than positive reviews from the Metal magazines. Despite numerous concerts, the band broke up at the end of 1997. We'll have to wait until 2014 to hear from Extinction again, when guitarist Danilo Bonuso re-forms the band in Turin with new musicians. The new lineup for the next three years featured frontwoman Alice Darkpeace, who will be talked about, and the band, for presenting the single "Conspirators" (2015) during the 2016 Italia's Got Talent TV program. In 2017 the band signed their first record deal with German label Unholy Fire Records and in April of the same year released their debut album The Monarch Slaves, which was also promoted abroad with live shows in Germany and Serbia at Rock Village Banatsky Sokolac Festival. In 2019, with the entry of new vocalist Filippo "Howling SStar" Collaro and immediately after Lorenzo Catolla on bass, Extinction enter Davide Billia's MK2 Recording Studio to record the second album "The Apocalypse Mark", released in October of the same year by Revalve Records. A short tour in Germany and some live shows in Italy before Covid ended the live commitments.
In 2020, new guitarist Jean Edifizi joins the line-up, with whom the composition for the new album begins, this time via internet and "from home", given the lockdown and Covid restrictions that made it difficult for Jean to get out of the Val D'Aosta region to move. Between November 2021 and March 2022, the new album will be recorded for the second time at MK2 Recording Studio by Davide Billia, who will play and record drums in addition to producing. The band is currently signed to Punishment 18 Records, who will release the new album in April 2023.
