The first lineup of WAR DOGS arose in Elche (Alicante/Spain) 2015 by Edu on guitar, José on drums and Manu on bass after they played together in some previous bands. At the beginning of 2017 Alberto joined on vocals. The band already wrote some songs and started to play some shows. Later on, Enrique joined on guitar to complete the current lineup.
WAR DOGS did their live debut in January 2018, at the VI Wild Beast Fest. In July of the same year, the band released their first self-titled EP, with which they began to play more shows around Spain, especially in clubs such as Mediterranean Metal Maniacs, Metal Bats, Metalwork or Spectra, where they shared bill with bands like Omen or Alien Force.
At the beginning of 2019 the band started the recording of their first full-length “Die by My Sword” at the Blackstage Studio in Alicante that was later mixed in Sweden by Olof Wikstand from Enforcer. In this first album you can see influences from US Epic Heavy Metal in the vein of Manilla Road, Visigoth, Omen, Eternal Champion and classics like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest or Mercyful Fate. In this album there’s a tribute song to Mark Shelton (rip), leader of Manilla Road, with a collaboration of current vocalist Bryan Patrick.
In October 2019, WAR DOGS signed to Fighter Records for the release of “Die by My Sword”, which was released in January 2020 both on CD and 12”LP. From 2020 to 2024, pandemic excluded, WAR DOGS played numerous shows around Spain and wrote a new album entitled which was recorded during the first half of 2024 for a release in October of the sale year, again through Fighter Records on CD & 12”LP formats under the title of “Only the Stars Are Left”.
