END was born from Paul's mind in 2004. At that time, it was a solo project, and Paul played all the instruments, except the drums. In fact, for the first tapes, Paul used a drum machine. Unlike other black metal bands, that are content with a fake battery, Paul never like that shitty drums sound. The lack of a drummer, combined with the work in the black metal band ANTI in 2006, and in EVILSPELL from 2007 to now, and also some personal reasons, stopped END for some years. During those years Paul write only few sporadic songs for END, creating a lot of thrash metal riffs for EVILSPELL, with only the idea of make END a live band.
In 2012 Paul decided to make END a live band and he recruited four session members to join him in his rehearsal room and for live concerts. Astrid, at the drums, was the first new member of the band, followed by Anticristian (from the band ANTI) on the other guitar, Pine (from INLANSIS) with her evil voice, and finally by Nekrofilo (from EVILSPELL) at the bass. With this line-up, in december 2013 END made their first live show and printed the first official demo "Descending", recorded in rehersal room. In reality, that was not the first demo, because Paul recorded some tapes in 2005-2007, but he never published them. All the three songs in the demo were, in fact, written years before END became a real band, for example the title-track "Descending" was written in 2005, "The smith" in 2009. Anyway, after 2012, Paul wrote a lot of new material. In november 2014 Paul returned at the vocals, taking the place of Pine. In 2016 Astrid is replaced with Joutsen (from TERRORSAW) and Anticristian by Hellias. With this line up END recorded the first full-lenght "End" between autumn 2017 and winter 2018. Finally in 2019 Il Mastino (from FORNACE, GEMINI) tooks the place of Hellias at the second guitar and the album will be presented in may.
Despite END is a black metal band, there are few influences of other musical genres, in particular thrash metal and hardcore/punk, especially for the drums. Sometimes you can listen to some old black metal, maybe in the vein of the mighty HELLHAMMER. But, if you listen to other songs, you feel that there is more 90's black metal, with atmospheres of BURZUM mixed with the patterns of DARKTHRONE. On the other hand, that is mixed up with a punk/hardcore drumming in an unique and strange way, that make the riffing claustophobic and obsessive like some ILDJARN songs. But, sometimes, the music become aggressive, with the violence typical of thrash metal... So, END doesn't seem any band, despite there are a lot of influences! It's an unique sound, it's just BLACK METAL.
