In the early days the band were clearly orientated towards the sound of the Australian greats, but the guys around Matthew Sting are now treading a wonderfully refreshing path in relation to the songwriting, melodies and especially the sound with the release of “EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED”. In the meantime, the influences of well known bands are spread so wide that is no longer feasible to compare STINGER with one or two bands. It feels like the five hard rockers from Allersberg have found their very own major sound. There is no denying that STINGER stand for honest, down to earth rock.
As a highlight STINGER present Billy Sheehan of MR BIG, DAVID LEE ROTH and THE WINERY DOG fame, who is a real genius on the bass and who has immortalized himself on the song “CHASING UTOPIA”. This alone gives the this album the appreciation it deserves, when musicians immortalize themselves on the albums of fellow musicians and bands.
A piece of rock history is being written here. Stories of life are skillfully put into text form with added melody. The music is high energy and technically loaded, with every individual instrument competently staged but coming together in one powerful unit.
