“Inner Shrine” are formed by Luca Liotti and Leonardo Moretti in 1995 in Firenze/ Italy. The aim of the band is to create a project of complete art: music, lyrics and images have to be the three shapes of the same idea. Luca plays guitar, synth, programs samples, and sings. Leonardo plays bass and writes lyrics. The majority of the music is written by Luca. In 1996 Luca and Leonardo together with other five musicians release their “Promo 1996” containing the tracks “Fatum”, “Dream On”, “Subsidence” and “Outro”. The line up is: Claudio Tovagli, drums, Pierfrancesco Cigliana, keyboards, Claudio Canneti, rhythm guitar and artwork, Cecilia Boninsegni, soprano, Sara Galleni, female voice. Their music was completely innovative for that period: the union of death metal, black metal, doom, progressive rock with death growls and a soprano voice. At the end of 1996 Inner Shrine signs a deal with “Dragonhearth Records”/Audioglobe. In 1997 Luca and Leonardo, with the same line-up of the “Promo 1996” produce the first album: “Nocturnal Rhymes Entangled in Silence”. This album is the first step in the “Alchemical Trilogy” based on the three colours of Alchemy (black, white and red/gold). The aim of the band is to express in music a three albums’ concept on alchemy and western/oriental spirituality. “Nocturnal Rhymes…” is the “black” album. As every Inner Shrine’s album, “Nocturnal…” is full of symbols that can be found by the listeners in music, lyrics and images. Lyrics are in English and Ancient Latin. “Nocturnal…” is released by SPV and licensed on AMG in Russia and Rock Empire in Taiwan. In 2000 Luca and Leonardo release the second album “Fallen Beauty”. This album is the “White” album of the trilogy. The music is a mixture of metal, doom, classical music and flamenco. The line up is changed, featuring Claudio Tovagli, drums;Cecilia Boninsegni, soprano, and Anna Vignozzi, female voice as session singers. Lyrics are in English and Ancient Latin. “Fallen Beauty” is released by SPV and licensed on AMG in Russia and Rock Empire in Taiwan. In 2004 Luca and Leonardo release the third and last album of the Alchemical trilogy: “Samaya”. This album is the “Red/Golden” album and its title means “Seal” to represent the evolution of the music in a more complete and unique style, very far from the "easy listening" stile of metal. The music is a mixture of metal, classical and opera music. In this album Luca and Leonardo play all instruments and Cecilia Boninsegni sings as session soprano. Lyrics are all in Ancient Latin. “Samaya” is released by SPV and licensed on AMG in Russia and Rock Empire in Taiwan. In 2009 Luca and Leonardo released “Mediceo”, an homage to our beloved city of Firenze and to its history. The album has been released in 2010 by My Funeral Records in a special A5 Digi-book package.
