Denominate is a progressive death metal band from Oulu, Finland, characterized by its intricate compositions, crushing intensity, and atmospheric passages. Blending brutal technical precision with evocative musical narrative, their music challenges conventions while delivering a relentless and dynamic experience.
Formed in 2009, Denominate’s music has firm roots in the tradition of death metal. Since their first EP, Realms of Confusion, with its brutal and technically oriented sound, the band has continued to evolve their music. On the follow-up and their first full-length album, Those Who Beheld the End, Denominate’s sound began to grow toward what it is today: a balance between the uncompromising heaviness of death metal and more subtle, atmospheric moments. Songs like “Torments of Silence” showcased their shift toward more dynamic compositions, a progression that would reach a new scale on their next album, Isochron, a concept album of epic proportions.
But the evolution of Denominate was not yet complete. The band’s third full-length album, Restoration, represents the culmination of their growth through the years. With six songs and a total runtime of 45 minutes, each piece is a journey through crushing riffs, delicate passages, and soaring melodies.
With Restoration, Denominate once again raises the bar for music as an exploration of the human spectrum within the boundaries of death metal.
