Nightward were born in 1997 out of an idea of guitarist Alessandro Battioli, willing to set up a melodic metal band inspired by the typical Swedish style in vogue during those years thanks to bands like At The Gates, Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, and Carcass.
In May 1998 they make their debut on the scene with a 3 songs demo-tape, "Beyond The Golden Gates", a mix of melodies and aggressively absorbing harmonies. This first work receives excellent reviews on all fronts, and even is awarded as “top demo” on the famous Italian magazine Grind Zone. As the time goes by, thanks to the experience gained on many clubs’ stages all around Italy, the new compositions evolve through a more incisive sound, with an evident urge to experimentation. So, between 2002 and 2003, the miniCD "Face The Fall" takes shape, with a line-up renewed for 3/5: Alessandro Battioli (guitar), Simone Ceron (bass) and Giacomo Fusetti (guitar), Davide Ricciuti (voice), Francesco Fabris (drums) are the proud creators of this album. The CD is published with the support of Carmelo Orlando, mastermind and voice of the band Novembre, as guest singer on the song “Blick In Den Traum”.
Thanks to this fine product the name Nightward appears on many Italian and European magazines and webzines, and the band, from May 2002, start again a proficuos live activity in the Milan area. The new character on the drums is Paolo Premazzi (Daytime Television), with whom they play in two consecutive editions of Perpetual Moonshine Festival at Rolling Stone club in Milan.
After a period of long deliberations about the new musical direction, Nightward during 2006/2007 find a certain stability with the new members Matt Rendina (drums – from the band Horrid), Andrea Malnati (keyboards and synthetic ), and Alessandro Maffezzoni (screams and clean voice). New spurs come also from the excellent work of Alkemist Fanatix agency, that quite soon find a contract with Risingworks Records of Frank Andiver (former member of Labyrinth). The new artistic inputs coming from the use of electronic parts and digital recording during the composition of the new tunes, as well as the unexpected vocal opportunities of cleaner and more melodic lines – and their contrast with the scream/hardcore ones, allow the band to work in a completely different way, compared to the past years. The new way of the band is more reasoned, direct, and conscious about the unique and hectic musical period that tries to interpret, even though the typical melodic mark of the band still remains. It’s something new, far from the rigid metal patterns, even if we can find something similar listening to bands like Mnemic, Raunchy, Atreyu, Killswitch Engage.

The new full-lenght album "Adrenaline 12", contains 10 new songs that will help Nightward to find their path through the international music scene.
