After the breakup of his band Pavlov's Dog in 1979, David Surkamp disillusioned moved from St. Louis to Seattle. There he meets Iain Matthews, former band member of Fairport Convention and Matthew's Southern Comfort. Both men wanted to do something different than just sing; they wanted to play guitar as well. Reason enough to form Hi-Fi and eventually release two albums. After these two albums, and after the release of a Christmas single (‘Winter Wonderland’) and a support tour of the Beach Boys, both men thought it was enough. Surkamp had obligations to the record company and thus he released the single 'Summertime / Louie Louie’ which was more a joke than a serious release. Then he went back to St. Louis and became a music journalist. In 2005, Pavlov's Dog was reformed. Matthews joined a Fairport Convention reunion in 1986 and also released some solo albums. Now a CD / DVD is released with all the recordings from Hi-Fi, so including the Surkamp’s single, the Christmas single and a few bonus tracks.
