The Avant-Gardener are Andrea Puvioni (drums), Francesco Mangiavacca (bass), Simone Condelli (vocals and guitar), who had played together before in "The Mants", and Marco De Renzi (guitar). They form in the summer of 2005 initially because The Mants needed a fourth member to enhance their live sound. Eventually the Avant-Garener project will substitute The Mants because of the new musical direction achieved. In winter 2006-2007 they go to Doctor Studios in Bologna to record their first ep on a one-day session. Their musical influences are various and go from Tool to Kyuss, but also Jon Spencer, Neurosis, Slint and Mogwai.
