Monads was officially born in January 2011, but the band had been in the works for 2-3 years before that. The plan was to bring funeral death/doom metal in a fierce and crushing way, far from the romantic death/doom scene. With talented, experienced and devoted musicians from bands such as Trancelike Void, Kilte, Toorn, Koester, Omega Centauri, Tapetum Lucidum, Sanctus Nex, Fractured Insanity, ... the 'pentad' was complete and immediately started writing and rehearsing.
August 2011 saw the recordings of a 54 minute demo, which was released on 50 tapes in September by the band. Though the tape was officially presented as a demo, it is nothing short of a stunning debut album, blowing away what most doom bands can't do after several releases and performances. Moreover, the band proved several times that they are at least as impressive when bringing their music live. In just over a year, they have shared the stage with bands such as Lifelover, IXXI, Cult of Erinyes, Ondskapt, The One, Somrak, Black Oath, Castle and Verdunkeln. Upcoming shows with Hypothermia, Psychonaut4, Worship and Faal are being planned. It's clear that with Monads, Belgium has gained a top act of doom, throwing high expectations after such a stunning debut.
