The story of melodic death metal upstarts Deals Death began in a music college, fittingly enough called Boomtown, in the Swedish town of Borlänge where guitarist Erik Jacobson wrote songs just for the fun of it. But so it happened that soon Erik got noticed by a couple of other students and they together started a band, setting their sights on playing Erik's songs live. Due to the ever increasing brutality of Erik's musical direction and other commitments of the aforementioned students this formation of the band was short-lived. Side note or not, be it said that those other commitments were the now huge heavy metal force Sabaton.

At the end of Erik's senior year in Boomtown, he was set to perform with the Symphony Orchestra of the Swedish province, Dalarna. For that purpose a new group was formed, and Erik's musical direction took a turn into melodic death metal, to which end a new singer, Olle Ekman from the death metal band Volturyon was enlisted. Just after a couple of gigs, this formation more or less dissolved too. Erik moved to the boiling cauldron of Swedish metal that is Gothenburg, where he finally cemented the line-up that will forge the fate and future of Deals Death.

Deals Death's self-financed debut "Internal Demons" (2009) was met with raving reviews worldwide and with a guest solo from Alexander Kuoppala (ex- Children Of Bodom) and a mix by Peter Tägtgren (Pain/Hypocrisy) it continues to spread like a virus throughout the Internet to this day.

So, what's in Deals Death's store in 2012 then? That would be some 1st grade thrash-paced melodic death metal with catchy melodies, infectious grooves hammered out by the rhythm section, and a vein-bursting screamer. Erik Jacobson's guitar spews out super-catchy riffs and leads, and the accompanying keyboards add to the overall melodiousness of the music. Janne Jaloma's drums roll with ease and complement Fredrik Ljung's bass, which has a similar melodic style to it much like the guitar, thus further adding another layer of accessiveness to the package. The band looks impressive too, as it wouldn't be too hard of a bet to wager that the ladies are going to like the oft-shirtless vocalist Olle Ekman, who has clearly been putting in some time at the gym...

Anyway, to stay on musical side of things, new songs were forged and the 2nd album "Elite" was recorded in May 2010 in Gothenburg. It was mixed by Jonas Kjellgren of Scar Symmetry fame. A video was shot for the song “Fortified” and released in April 2011. The clip made an imminent impact on the metal scene and launched Deals Death to the worldwide metal audience.

Next, Lady Luck showed the band her graces. A fortuitous coincidence landed Olle Ekman's “Death Metal Vocal Exercises” into a video by the YouTube comedian Ray William Johnson. All of a sudden, Deals Death's name and singer were known by a WAY bigger audience. How much of a wider audience? Five million and counting. Looks like the world stage is set. Add to that the fact that “Elite” has got more hooks than a trotline, and what you get is a storm warning of an album by a band ready to vie for the throne.
