Formed in Taunton, Somerset in early 2008; Engraved Disillusion came together through the ashes of previous musical aspirations. Founding members, guitarists Marc Matthews and Toby Stewart and vocalist Chris Pugsley came together though a mutual love and understanding of the cornerstones of melodic death metal. Drawing influences from such bands as At The Gates, Black Sabbath, The Black Dahlia Mur der, Carcass, Dissection, Unearth, Dream Theater, Insomnium, Candlemass, In Flames and Dark Tranquillity they filtered their passion into a dynamic and powerful juggernaut. To fill the ranks, they sought the talent of Chris Threlfall on drums and eventually Matt Thomas on bass guitar in 2010. Ultimately, they set about to cement themselves in their local scene, nevertheless with targets set on bigger game.
In November 2012 Engraved Disillusion were ready to present their most powerful, intense, ambitious and dynamic material to date. “Embers of Existence” is brimming with spine-tingling melodies, devastating riffs, poignant solos, powerful vocals and structural twists that leave the listener wanting more. The album shows a band of growing maturity, not only in the quintet's song writing ability but also its perception of vocal structure and lyrical content.
Entitled ‘The Eternal Rest’, the new album was recorded at Thin Ice Studios with Karl Groom (Dragonforce, Threshold…) during the summer of 2014 and features 9 tracks of epic, diverse and at times unrelenting metal. The addition of new vocalist Matthew William Mead and bassist Aaron Preston has allowed the band to diversify and bring new elements to their sound, namely the inclusion of clean vocals.
