Magister Templi first saw the light of day in a pub in Oslo 2008 when singer Abraxas d'Ruckus and bass player (now guitarist) Baphomet decided it was about damn time to make some songs together, based on a no rules concept. It started as a strange, slightly folky hard rock group with violin (and no guitars). The lyrics took a more esoteric turn, drawing heavily on imagery from alchemy and ritual magic and a heavier sound and guitars were introduced.

After a few lineup changes and the recording of a demo "Lucifer/Restoration" (2010), guitarist Patriark and drummer Grimmdun from the black metal band Svarttjern joined, which pushed MT further in the direction of old school heavy metal and doom. Baphomet took over the second guitar and Akoman (Sarkom) joined the band on bass which culminated in the EP "IAO SABAO" (2011).

In 2012 Magister templi had the honour to join Cruz Del Sur Music and have since then released a full length album "Lucifer Leviathan Logos"(2013), the 7" "Nyarlathotep/Anubis" (2014) and in 2015 the album "Into Duat".
