The band formed in 2010 following a conversation between workmates Bill Fitzsimmons and Steve Parrish. Bill was looking for a guitarist and Steve knew his brother Dave, formerly with Scarab, was looking to join a band so he introduced them, and Nightblade was born. Although Bill has been playing bass guitar for many years now, this is his first project.

Mark Crosby, previously in a band called Viridan Hue, was recruited as vocalist and Rik Horton as drummer; the band played their first gig at The Appleby in Burton-on-Trent in November 2010. Rik was only with the band for a short time and in early 2011 Rick Jones who was once in a band called Preacher took his place.

With a settled line-up the band was able to set about gigging and recording new material. The new line-up made its live debut at the Old Wharf in Digbeth, Birmingham, in May 2011. Throughout the rest of 2011 they played a further eleven gigs, including the Glevum Farm Trust Festival in July and an Emma Scott Presents… show at The End in Dale End, Birmingham in December.

At the same time they worked on new songs and made a couple of visits to the Old Smithy Recording Studio to record their debut album 'Servant To Your Lair' which was released in December 2011.

The following year the band stepped up the number of live performances with highlights incluuding supporting Iron Butterfly at The Robin 2 in February and then a seven-date tour in March to promote the album including a support slot with Dirty DC at Kidderminster Town Hall. There was another Emma Scott show at Birmingham's Acadamy 2, ironically on the same night that Black Sabbath were in the room next door, and the year ended with a couple of shows supporting Uli Jon Roth, once of Scorpions.

Work was begun on a second album, slated for release in 2013 and in late 2012 drummer Rick Jones left the band to be replaced by Richard Lawley.

2014 sees Nightblade out with their new EP, "Crisis has no prejudice".
