METAL INQUISITOR was formed by Blumi in 1997. Shortly after, the band’s line-up was completed with the addition of drummer Witchhammer („Tormentor“ of Desaster) and later with the singer El Rojo and the bassist KronoS. The guys immediately started writing several classic metal songs. As a result, a demo with three songs was released in the following year, followed by the single „Seven Inches For The Second Attack“ a year later.
In 2000 Witchhammer left the band. Since the decision was taken, the band wanted to play with two guitarists in the future. So T.P. (guitar) and Havoc (drums) joined the band. Both were already part of the original and common cover project „The Left Rhine Happy Natures“.
Together with the new band members they produced the first album „The Apparition“ in 2002, which was then released via Iron Glory Records. After receiving very positive reviews for the album, METAL INQUISITOR went on „The Apparition Tour 2002/2003“.
In 2004 they appeared at renowned German festivals like the Rock Hard and the Keep It True festival. Despite slowly gaining popularity in the scene, Iron Glory Records annulled the record deal.
In spring 2005, they signed with Hellion Records and the second album, „Doomsday For The Heretic“, was released in November 2005. This time, they received fantastic album reviews and the band was particularly supported by the German Rock Hard magazine.
In late 2006 KronoS parted ways with the band due to private reasons. He was replaced by Dutch G, with whom the band continued to work on the third album. In early 2008 KronoS returned to the band. In addition, the band officially celebrated its tenth anniversary in March 2008. In October 2010 KronoS could no longer be part of the band due to health reasons and was replaced by Cliff Bubenheim on the bass.
In November 2010 the band released its third album „Unconditional Absolution“, which was still recorded with KronoS on bass and became an instant winner in the Rock Hard issue 12/2010. This led to several appearances at famous German festivals in 2011, e.g., the Rock Hard festival, the Headbangers Open Air festival or the Bang Your Head!!! festival.
With the band’s fourth album „Ultima Ratio Regis“, METAL INQUISITOR will continue to pursue their successful path and remember old classic metal virtues.
Following the album release in early 2014, the band will play live shows again, both national and international.
After 4 years they are back with latest album "Panpticon", another classix-metal masterpiece
