2002:
Saligia and Lord Astaroth (guitar) form the Infernal Tenebris. Count Decameron (drums) and Agares (keyboard) and then Lord of Pestilence (bass) enter in the band.
2003:
After various tests, Lord of Pestilence become the voice of the band, while the first riffs finally see the light. Strong tensions between members end with the exit Lord Astaroth . After some test with other guitarists, Lord of Pestilence passes to guitar.
2004:
Nurthur enters as bass player and gives new thickness to the music and new ideas to the band, so the band start to develop the first album about "the Black Plague in Italy". From this theme comes the name of the band, Speculum Mortis. very soon it cames out that the sound of keyboard isn't essential to the songwriting, so Agares is thrown out of the band, not last for his false behaviour and attitude. In the same period the collaboration with Nik begins. He is a well skilled keyboard and great expert of medieval history and helped the band to develop ideas about the realization of the passages related both to music and lyric through the deep study of that historical period; in fact the medieval imprint in the music starts to detach the band from what was the 2 year-old initial project. Speculum Mortis decide to use keyboard and classical instruments in specific parts of the concept, such as intro, outro, interludes and ask Nik to gather the essence of the group into parts such as "Vado Mori " the key-piece of the album. They are born besides in this period Speculum Verae Penitence, Macabre Triumph, Livor Mortis and St. Leonardo Fossamala.
2005
The band works to two new pieces since March: Speculum Mortis and Pogrom. Together with live sets, the band starts the publication of website and contact with the label Griffin Music. In the first days of July the band enters in the "Conquest Studio" where it records debut album "1348", mixed by Alex "the king" Festa. The first limited edition, numbered in 120 copies, exits for the Vomitarcanus prod. In the meantime, the contract with Griffin music is signed. Griffin Music grants promotion and distribution to international level. In the second part of the year the band immediately starts the composition of the second album: a new concept about the family Borgia.
2006-2007
The band complete the second album "bOrgia Orgia" and makes several live shows.
2008
"bOrgia Orgia" is completed and the band enter again in the conquest studio to record the full lenghe cd. The accurate work to produce and mix this concept takes long time. Neverthless, the band is starting to compose the third album and takes part to live shows
2009
The band makes an agreement with griffin music to distribute and promote "bOrgia Orgia" and almost complete the third album, another time a concept album, about the First World War in italy. During 2009 the band travels in north italy to take documentation about that war, visiting monuments and places. At the end of the year, the band sadly has to fire Count Decameron due to personal affairs and immediatly find another drummer (Draughar ) to complete the third album.
