Every time Quireboys vocalist Spike self-confidently informs his enthusiastic audience “We are The Quireboys... and this is rock ‘n’ roll!” everyone present has a pretty clear idea where this musical journey is about to lead. Since coming to prominence in 1989 The Quireboys have been synonymous with hand-made British rock music, spiced with edgy riffs, driving rhythms and their frontman’s unique voice. The Quireboys have never felt the need to emulate their supposed idols; their originality, their charisma and their unequivocal rock ‘n’ roll anthems have always guaranteed the band their very own place in rock history.

The band were formed in late 1985, but really hit their stride with the release of their debut album in 1989. That first record A Bit Of What You Fancy went into the UK album charts at No. 2 and sold over 200,000 copies. Over a million copies were sold worldwide, the album going platinum in Canada and Japan. Six of their singles reached the U.K. top forty including Hey You and the band performed on Top Of The Pops twice.
Managed by Sharon Osbourne the band spent 1989 to 1991 recording and touring. During this time they opened high profile shows for The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Guns and Roses, Bon Jovi and David Bowie. The band released their second album Bitter Sweet & Twisted in 1993. By this time grunge had arrived with a vengeance and the album didn't do as well as expected. Disheartened the band decided to call it a day.
Relocating to the states Spike went on to form God's Hotel and recorded two solo albums. Guitarist Guy Griffin also settled in America and formed his own band Glimmer recording one album for Atlantic Records.
The Quireboys reformed in 2001 when Spike and Guy signed a new record deal with Sanctuary records and released the bands third album This Is Rock 'n' Roll.
The band took up touring again and continued to do so ever since. Their travels have taken the boys to Canada, America, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Bulgaria and of course the U.K, sharing bills with Alice Cooper, David Lee Roth, UFO and David Coverdale along the way .
2002 saw the release of the originally titled live album Live 2002, which was followed in 2004 by their fourth studio album Well Oiled. A live DVD recorded at London’s famous Mean Fiddler called One More For The Road was released in 2006. Most of 2007 was spent in the studio recording Homewreckers & Heartbreakers which came out on the Jerkin Crocus label in May 2008. The album has been universally acclaimed as their best release to date.
Coincidently EMI Records decided to release a two disc retrospective of the bands early career at about the same time. Although, again, not the most imaginatively titled album Best Of The Quireboys was compiled with the bands full involvement. Choosing the tracks they wanted to include the boys even donated Mona Lisa Smiled from Homewreckers & Heartbreakers to close the album.

Since then the boys have toured non-stop promoting both releases across Europe. The band return to U.K. concert halls in December 2009 for a ten date tour in celebration of the twentieth anniversary of A Bit Of What You Fancy’s original release.
