Athanor’s rituals began in January 1998 by the hands of Lord of War (gt/vc) with the drummer Flamel, after other musical experiences…
The Athanor is a tool used by alchemists to forge their alchemies within fire. Lord of War wrote the first songs; in August of the same year, with the arrival of Lucas Demon (bs) and Marthym (gt) they established the first line-up, which keeps working for the demo tape. It’s in February 1999 that Athanor’s fire burns in “IN THE DARK NIGHT”, an ode to evil and darkness with satisfactory results. One year later they record a mini cd (first version as a self-release to refuse any compromise) 'Triumph of the dark power”, which contains the revised demo's tracks. It encloses candles' smell, darkness of the night, sounds of war and the image of death. In October 2002 they record the promo cd “Call from the depths”, which contains 2 unreleased tracks 2 bonus tracks.
Few months later they began the collaboration with Mystical Prods to support promotion and re-releases of past works. In 2003, after a short gig in Europe, Flamel left the band. Another year of silence before to welcome Lord Arhald, the right drummer to keep working on the new songs. Several live dates open the release of the next album '666% NECROTIC BLACK METAL'; they entered the studio in 2006, but it has been completed only the next as even Marthym left the band.
2009 is the year of 'Reaper...' EP under Mystical Prods, to prepare for the full album 'Darkness, Hate and Cosmic Holocaust which will be recorded in 2010 and is going to see the imminent release for the mexican Satanic Records. Due to persona matters which delayed the album's issue itself, even any live show has been suspended. The band is searching for a session drummer until summer, as Lord Arhald will be back on stage.
