Inspired by the European greats like Helloween, Gamma Ray and Hammerfall;
ASCENSION have brought a revival to guitar-driven power metal in a world where symphonic keyboards and orchestral elements have now dominated the genre.
In the last few years Ascension have seen great success across the whole of the UK with appearances such as the first (and last) Metalfest UK at JB’s Dudley alongside acts such as Blaze Bayley, Vision Divine, Dragonland and Primal Fear.
In 2009, Ascension embarked on their first full UK tour. Fully financed, promoted and organised by the band and Italian power metal band Broken Melody. The band saw their fanbase greatly increase as a result.
In August 2010, Ascension travelled to Sweden to record their debut album - 'Far Beyond the Stars’ at Sonic Train Studios with Andy Larocque. Mixing and mastering of the album was completed at the start of 2011.
In September 2011, Ascension embarked on a UK tour supporting Swedish power metal band Axenstar.
Ascension's live performance is where the band's talent, passion and energy really shine through; with an unfathomable stage presence and staggering fret wizardry from lead guitarists Stuart Docherty and Fraser Edwards, soaring vocal performances from frontman Ricki Carnie, astounding, powerful drumming from Dick Gilchrist and impressive bass lines and solos from bassist Nick Blake, Ascension's live shows always captivate the audience - from the die hard fans at the front to casual observers alike.
Ascension are bringing back guitar driven power metal with a modern, contemporary twist. With strong, soaring vocals, melodic yet technical guitar work, machine-gun drums and earth shattering bass, you can guarantee whatever style of metal you're in to, Ascension will not leave you disappointed.
